"Having a great time! Wish you were here!"
The Roast ~ Saturday Sept. 4, 1999:![]()
Donpoo - He Comes Prepared!!Began Saturday afternoon when the guys showed up early to roast the Hog... 2 trucks (one hauling the outdoor roaster) and 1 van showed up. All the guys piled out and began setting up. One of the guys went to the back of the lot to find Brian --- BUT WAIT --- this guy isn't part of the roast crew! It's Donpoo from the Globe!! *VBG*
After we got over the mistaken identity, donpoo set up his van under the shade of the trees nearby where the roast crew had already begun preparations for roasting the giant hog. In no time at all, Don had his table set up, cookstove ready, coolers out, chairs out... Now this man comes prepared!! Way to go Donniepoo - for being the first to arrive!!
That evening was a riotous event with friends of the roasting crew as well as friends of Marsh's showing up all through the night. A large bonfire was lit at the back and we were all regaled with stories of Marsh's past escapades thanks to his cousin Mike. Of course, several jokes made the rounds long into the early hours of the morning.
The Roast ~ Sunday Sept. 5, 1999:
We had waited the night before for both Alexis and Leia18 and were sad to receive an email at the last minute that they could not make. (You were both missed **hugz**)
The morning arrived with 3 roasters on the kitchen counters loaded to the brim with freshly roasted Hog ...mmmmmmm - it smelled AND tasted absolutely delicious! Jim and Nancy (BlondeOne) were the next to arrive, loaded with extra goodies for the Roast. Thanks for the delicious salads Nancy!!! They were terrific!!! They also loaned us their digital camera which is bringing pictures to you here now. Thanks a bunch!

Wade, Shosh, And The
Incredible Frisbee Catching
Holly!!!Shortly after their arrival, Shosh and Wade showed up bringing Holly too! Now you should see this little dog of theirs catch a frisbee. Amazing!! She kept playing the game until the humans got worn out. *chuckle* But by then, both Duke and Baby (Marsh's male dogs) had tracked her scent and were desparately trying to get her attention. *G*
Donpoo snuck away to the store with Brian to pick up a few ingredients for some homemade ice cream (he had brought his own ice cream maker) and during his absence someone else snuck in...

Cessie and McSteve ~ the
loving couple :)Cessie and McSteve showed up and Donpoo nearly fainted when he walked into the kitchen to see them both there. They joined us for an excellent hog lunch/dinner and took some home with them too. We're glad you both enjoyed it and super happy you stopped in! Silver (my late ferret) became incredibly attached to Cessie ~ he didn't want her to leave. *S*
Late that evening after the constant flow of visitors had died down we had another small bonfire at the back. Donpoo and I talked a long time while Marsh was busy helping the hog roast crew load up their equipment (and their take-out food trays *g*)... We heard the howling coyotes in a ditch not far away. You know, Don, now that I think of it... no, I doubt the pack would have attacked at the fire but your van was parked real close to the Hog Roasting drainage pit and after the fire died down and we all retired, guess we're pretty lucky they didn't decide to sneak up on your van.
Mikey, his wife, and the new baby showed up later too, and we all enjoyed a peaceful evening with talk around the fire, roasting a few marshmallows and simply enjoying each others company. A very pleasant evening indeed!
