Incredible Information - The EASY Way!

My WebGuide Picks For
Top Ezines

Here are my top picks for Ezines on the Net in this edition of the WebGuide Journal. For the past two years I've been registering to several, dropping many, keeping very few. When you're like me, and receive from 200 to 350 emails per day during weekdays, you tend to want to streamline the information you receive as much as possible. I'm not saying those I've dropped in the past are no good, just that they didn't give me enough of what I personally need and/or were much too long to continue receiving without constant complaints from my on-line email suppliers. Now you get to see the ones I've kept, and why I've kept them.

On Web Design

Efactory Newsroom - Excellent!! Super!!! You're really going to love this one! I get it emailed to me in HTML format for the convenience of clicking on the buttons to go to the different free tools recommended in it. This guy has an amazing way of sniffing out quick tools that are incredibly useful for webmasters!

I have found so many handy tools and gadgets subscribing to this one I couldn't even begin to list them all here. There was the email template package I tried out for a friend's site... the sig file using ASCII characters to make them cool and exciting.. so much more! Many of the free tools you've been hearing about and reading about in the email version of the WebGuide - CAME FROM HERE! Yes! This one is a winner! And I'm keeping it! Great for the webmaster, whether you're a beginner or advanced!

LockerGnome - This one is a good one too - if you're into software. Not everything listed is free to try or use, but most of it is. It's in email format and you have to pay to access archives. The software recommendations include everything from games to windows accessories and more! Plus they provide regular tips to help you maintain your system.

Note: The weekly emails are very LONG so I should warn you to have an email account that allows for large memory. (I recommend Time4me.com Email because you get 6 Mb storage space there and good file management systems. No, I don't own it - we run it as a free service for the many visitors at Time4me. The service itself is actually owned by Everyone.net)

On Marketing

Internet Marketing Center - There is no other site out there that I trust more than Cory's. His Marketing Program is phenominal and if you haven't bought your copy yet, you're missing out on some of the most incredible marketing tools available - but more than that, you're probably doing a ton of stuff the hard way too! But above and beyond the Marketing Program he also has a free Newsletter offered from his site which you can subscribe to. I'd highly recommend it.

Killer Marketing Tactics

Now, if I hadn't subscribed to these guys I would never have found out what all of those favicon.ico errors where doing piling up in my logs.

These guys and gals truly are pros! They've been in the biz for a very long time. I'd recommend, even if you don't go for their excellent software program, you must sign up for their free newsletter.

They are short, quick, to the point - incredibly efficient and excellent tips for marketing which you may not find elsewhere!

General

Best EZines - Scott Owen is the originator and Associate Editor of this resource site. Loaded with helpful information and reviews on many EZines out there - you'll agree once you visit the domain name says it all.

Internet News

PostMasterDirect - Like the banner says "Where do you get all your information from?" ... and believe me, I do. For example, I heard about the America's Homes Affiliate Program launch first through here. And yes, they were well worth signing onto! This is one of my main sources for new programs hitting the Net. I should warn you, be very specific on the categories you choose. The more streamlined your choice the better quality of news releases you will be receiving. It kind of gives me a bit of an edge on what's new on the Net. They're short, brief, and get straight to the point. I like that.

Iconocast - I love this one! I became registered through a search engine submission I had made. You know how you get flooded with a bunch of news blurbs and other mail after you complete your submissions to sites and many you just dump. Well, on one of them I clicked the link to find out more about their newsletter - and am I ever glad I did. Excellent hard core statistics - different ones for each edition, such as "why most users are on-line" or ... well, heck, here's a sample - a few snippets.

June 24/99 - ICONOCAST

"The ranks of online buyers is increasing too. Twenty-eight million now report having purchased something online, equal to 30% of the total Internet population. The number of women buying online jumped 80% in nine months, raising their share of online buyers to 38%."

"LifeMinders.com represents a new wave of "convenience marketing," which will play a strong role in the future of advertising as the value of "random impressions" declines further. The audience agreed with this scenario and 48% voted LifeMinders.com the best e-mail demo followed by Digital Impact, which garnered 26% of the vote."

And I really love their little snippets - the bottom half of every edition. They call them Jaycobytes - with a great sense of humor full of industry gossip - the buzz on the street.
"A tip, a rumor, a slice of strife published by The Jacobyte may earn you a fine bottle of Hunter "Brut de Noirs Extended Tirage" (Sonoma) champers, courtesy of Virtual Vineyards. To earn your goodie, send an e-mail to ."

examples:

<*> Speaking of whimpering like a dog, did you catch The Rodster putting the boss down? After Mr. Know-it-All mistakenly identified Rodman's wrestling league as the WWF, Dennis mockingly reprimanded him by saying, "I thought YOU were supposed to be the brain."

<*> Marketing snafu! (Jaco just loves that word, maybe it's because it rhymes with the way midwesteners pronounce Yahoo!) i2 Technologies sent out a press release about a sales and marketing conference they're hosting. They gave out a porn chat number (800.800.3228) as the information line! i2 cn mk u a str, jst li n mi cstng cch!"

So, if it's news, reviews - and humor too - I really like Iconocast. Sure it's one of the large ones in your email, but it's one of the few I tend to actually read the whole way through.

More Next Update

Of course there are more. I haven't even begun to tell you about some of my secret sources for Associate Program information, or MLM Program news, or... well, the list goes on! Let's put it this way, though - I've been checking out different Newsletters now for over 2 years and have dropped 10 to 15 times the amount I've kept. I'm extremely selective when it comes to what I want to take time to read because time is money. The more of it I can save the better for me. I hope I've saved you plenty with this first edition.

See ya next update!
