Advertising on the Net is not as simple a game as most imagine it will be when they first enter this competitive arena. Banner advertising is one most are familiar with. Advertising through newsgroups and ezines are another well-known method. Affiliate Programs and "store-front" Associate Programs are another method. Well, here, we're going to explore some totally unique, some extremely new and innovative, and some completely bizarre methods. Some are so new they haven't even been put into full use yet.
Sponsor A Card...
This one is NEW! You won't even be able to apply for it for another 3 weeks (at the time of drafting this page) but the tests have already been run with some amazing results. Click here to view a sample sponsored card... This card has already reached over 900 people in 9 days of circulation (via icq and email) but that isn't what makes it so amazing. The amazing part is the click through traffic to other links on it. The banner ad received only 2% (which is still high considering most are between .8% and 1.5%) and was removed after the 9 day test, but the text links produced a whopping 45% click through!! Co-Branding To Add Content...
This one is taking off quite well although I don't have their statistics but I've seen increased traffic to two sections of 3 of my sites as a result of it. I'll be testing it much more thoroughly by co-branding some games with a college this year. They've contacted me regarding running free games on their site but don't have the time to set it up nor the space on their network to run them. I'll be setting up a frameset on one of mine which will run the games for them and once the "players" are finished, they will click on the frame to return to their college site.
